Temperature is a key influencing factor during the operation of optical transceiver, and excessive temperature will lead to a decrease in optical transceiver performance, seriously affecting communication quality. Therefore, effective temperature monitoring and over-temperature protection for optical transceiver are crucial. The EXSENSE optical transceiver gold termination NTC chip, due to its unique negative temperature coefficient characteristic, where the resistance value decreases as the temperature rises, has become an ideal component for temperature control in optical transceiver.


The installation position of the EXSENSE bare chip in the optical transceiver is directly related to its temperature monitoring accuracy and temperature control efficiency. In order to ensure that the real-time junction temperature of the optical transceiver is captured in a timely manner, the lower surface of the gold termination NTC chip is soldered to the laser TEC in the mainstream design solution, and the upper surface is connected to the laser pin through the bonding process. Small dimension: In order to meet the development trend of small and high-density integration of optical transceiver, EXSENSE has developed optical transceiver gold termination NTC chip with size as small as 0.21mm × 0.21mm, which not only frees up more space for the layout of other components, but also helps achieve higher integration of optical transceiver. At the same time, the small dimension of NTC can be closer to the heat source, reducing the heat transfer path and effectively increasing the speed of temperature collection.


With the rapid development of 5G network, data center, and high-speed optical communication, the transmission rate of optical transceiver continues to increase, and the power consumption and heat generation also increase accordingly.
